The Teeside International Open was yet another successful tournament for Kent Invicta, bringing home two trophies and with 7 players attending. There were a lot of good results for all of our players, which showed again how quickly they are all developing. As well as having two players making their debuts for the club, there was also a debut for Kent Invicta’s most recent acquisition, a giant club flag. Which I am sure will be the envy of Subbuteo clubs everywhere.
Coen Townsend won both the U15s and U12s titles, winning all seven games on the day, rattling in 39 goals and only conceding 2.
Colin Tarry was unlucky to be in such a difficult group in the open, where he lost all three games - 0-1 against Paul Lawrenson and 0-3 against Julio Candelas, which were good results, as was scoring 2 goals against Chris Thomas in a 2-7 defeat. Colin beat Gary Pearson 3-2 with a golden goal in the Veterans barrage before losing again to Julio Candelas in the Veterans semi-final 0-5.
Adrian Davies was in a group of only three in the Open. He lost 0-2 against Dave Russell and earned a respectable 2-2 draw with Ben Staples, which was enough to give him second place in the group and a place in the barrage against Mike Parnaby, where he lost 1-4.
Brian Kinrade lost 0-8 against Matt Lampitt and 0-4 against Mike Parnaby, but was unlucky to lose to team mate Philip Townsend 1-3, despite leading 1-0. Brian lost 0-3 against John Devaney in the Veterans barrage.
Ewan Kinrade was making his FISTF tournament debut in the U15s, in which he finished third. He beat Dylan Staples and Joseph Kinrade both 2-0 and lost 2-3 against Matthew Parnaby and 1-3 against Coen Townsend.
Joseph Kinrade also made his debut at the Teesside I.O, finishing fourth in the U15s and third in the U12s. His stand out results of the day, were wins against Dylan Staples, 3-1 and 1-0, plus a lovely goal against Coen Townsend in a 3-1 defeat in the U12s.
Philip Townsend lost against Mike Parnaby 0-1 and 1-3 against Matt Lampitt in the group stage of the Open. In the plate semi-final, Philip came from 0-2 down at half time against Sam Curtis to take the game to extra time, where he lost to a golden goal.
