A COLD, EARLY START SOON WARMS UP
It was a rather early 09:15 on a rather cold morning that pitched KEW against Molesey in another Cup Match.
It took a while for the KEW girls to shake off the cold and get into their stride. Molesey, once again, battled hard and chased down every ball making it difficult for KEW to get into their normal playing mode! In fact it took exactly 16 minutes before the superior 'passing game' played by KEW, resulted in a goal. Clearly inspired, a couple of minutes later KEW were 2- 0 up. Some moments of panic followed with Molesey making some chances of their own, however they were unable to convert any of them and we played out the first half and went into half time with a 2 goal lead.
The second half started with KEW putting pressure on the Molesey goalkeeper and one of the many 'pushes' led to a goal with only 7 minutes of the second half played. Molesey pushed back and if it wasn't for some heroic goalkeeping they would have scored. KEW, with more possession of the ball, managed to break forward and hit the back of the net after 25 minutes, making it 4-0. The opposition certainly did not give up which led to a few scary moments and some defending to get right! Thankfully KEW didn't rely on the 4 goal lead and worked hard to block any attack. Overall KEW were the better side and with what must have been the last attack of the game, managed to get one more goal with only one minute remaining.
Final score 5-0 to KEW and we are into the next round!
