Kew U13s Girls make a winning start to the 2017/18 Premier League.

A rollercoaster of a match saw Kew Girls snatch an away victory and three points in the first game of the new Premier League season.

It was a pulsating, end-to-end game – with some brilliant defending and goalkeeping, and then some 'what-on-earth-are-you-doing' moments. We were missing a couple of key players, and we played one of our great Under 12s.

Sutton started strongly, scoring an early goal, and for the first 10 minutes it looked like they might steamroller us, as we stood off their tall and strong players. Our keeper made some brave saves to keep us in the game.

Then, in a flash, defence turned into attack. We broke down the right, delivered a beautiful cross that was chested into the net. And, just before half time, we took the lead with another finely worked pass-and-move goal.

At the start of the second half, we grabbed a third goal with a swift counter attack. Our second-half keeper made a couple more decisive saves before Sutton got a goal back. Soon, however, we restored our two-goal lead with another end to end move. Right at the death, Sutton scored a peach of a third to set up a nervy last two minutes.

Kew held on with a fine all-round team performance to claim a great opening day victory,
