History

The club was formed in 2001 after Stourport Athletic Club (which was formed in 1973) and Kidderminster Running Club joined forces with the opening of a new track and club house.

We promote athletics in all its form in the area and at present are going through a very successful phase with over 180 members drawn from all over the district. We pride ourselves as being friendly, and welcome all newcomers whatever their ability and whether they have belonged to a club or not. So whether you are already a seasoned athlete or a first time jogger, we can cater for you. We have a strong Junior section for 9 - 16 years and welcome whole families.

The club competes throughout the year with individuals and teams taking part in cross country, road and multi terrain races in the winter and track and field in the summer.

In 2003 a women's initiative was started and was very successful, to the extent that we have seen our ladies section increase. See separate page for more information on the running initiative.

We have a large band of coaches who have contributed to the success of the club, all fully qualified. The club has an active programme to ensure the coaches upgrade their skills and keep up to date knowledge on nutrition, child protection etc. We are affiliated to the Midland AAA and adhere to all the Codes of Conduct laid down by UK Athletics. The club also has a Child Protection officer and a Welfare Officer. Copies of the code are avilable in the club house. The club is always looking for coaches and officials, so please let us know if you are interested.
