Dr Tony Crocker (professor of child psychology) joined what was then Stourport Athletic Club in the mid 1970's, not long after the Club had been formed.
Tony had been a good cross country runner in his youth, but the high jump was his main event in later years. Having said that Tony was something of an all rounder, being also good at sprints, Long jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault.
Tony continued with the long out dated Western Roll high jump technique right up until his last high jump competition as an over 80 year old in 2017. Competing for the last time at the age of 82 in a 100m race at Stourport in the Masters League.
Tony was one of the founder members of the Vets League (now Masters) and won multiple British, European and World Masters tittles in both High Jump and Long Jump.
Tony still holds the KSAC records for Over40's in High Jump and Pole Vault, over 50's High Jump and over 60's 100m, 200m, Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump.
Tony had many and varied interests. As well as the athletics Tony was a bell ringer, glider pilot, canoe instructor, formed a Army Cadet group and member of MENSA.
He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
