Despite having 8 unavailable regulars, Kidlington's development team made an impressive start to season 2019/20 With a comfortable 4-1 victory against Oxfordshire Senior League outfit Hanborough. With the decision to include 18 teams in Uhlsport Hellenic League East for the coming season, Nick East is needing to build a large squad.
The performance showed the great depth being built up at Kidlington Football Club since the introduction of the A team, for the forthcoming season, that will operate in the Oxfordshire Senior League. Many players were given the chance including two 16 year old, Archie Brew and Steven Da Silva, Archie marking his debut with a fantastic goal.
The first half was virtually one way traffic and 'The Greens' had a series of huge chances which were unfortunately wasted, it remained 0-0 at half time. The second half was a different story as The Greens raced into a 3-0 lead with 2 goals from débutante striker Elliott Powell and one from young Brew who swept the ball home after a flowing move involving Powell, Taylor Southam, and Jack Gaul. Following many substitutions Hanborough pulled one goal back via a header from a corner, but late on Taylor Southam scored to make it 4-1.
This was such a pleasing start for the young greens and next up is a rearranged friendly versus Horspath away. This will be staged at Abingdon Town on Thursday night. 7.15 kick-off.
