Chris was relatively new to our club but in his short time with us he had hardly missed a fixture home or away. Chris is the farther of contracted Youth player Harry Williams who had arrived at our club after the return of Manager Julian MaCalmon last season.

Chris understood the plight of football clubs at our level, and his business Sportingold is the Clubs lead sponsor in the 2019-20 season. Sportingold is a memorabilia auction house operating close to the Williams household in Stokenchurch. Chris a lifelong Manchester City supporter and season ticket holder would frequently gave this up, in order to watch young Harry play home and away games for the 1st Teams. Not sure it was fate or not but the day before his death I had travelled to watch the team at Bedford where Chris and I we spent the entire first half in conversation while watching the game, there were no other Kidlington officials at the game but Chris certainly was and we spent much of that half discussing the Clubs situation. At half time I invited him to the Bedford boardroom for the usual refreshments but Chris as usual was having none of that preferring a wander round the ground which was the last time we would speak.

The following day he had already arranged to travel to London to watch City play a Premier League game but unfortunately suffered a heart attack and despite paramedics attention died prior to arriving at the ground.

Chris Williams was a real gentleman and never had a bad word to say about anybody. He was a kind and considerate man and a lover of football in all of its formats. All of the players, officials and supporters of our club are in absolute disbelief that Chris is no longer with us, I suppose if there is a simple if logical thought we can take from what has happened, it is that our club will continue long after all of us have gone. We are after all just custodians doing the best we can for the short time we are here.
