May 2020

May 2020, a month that we feel nobody will forget for the rest of their lives, a month that has been different to what we are used to and a month that has definitely impacted everybody in one way or another.

Whilst we do not in anyway want to undermine the difficulties that we have been facing, I hope that everybody will be happy for us to focus on the positives of the past month and will celebrate with us the togetherness, positive spirit and good will that we have experienced.

Lets start with, to us what has been most important, we have Platty back. You may have read the article in the Oxford Mail or on here a few weeks back which shared the great news that Dave Platt had returned home to his fiance and his family. Platty continues to make progress and we can not wait to see him back at the football club.

This also marks the end of the challenges, an amazing achievement in which our football family have pulled together to support our club and our amazing NHS who continue to keep us all safe. Thank you to the managers, coaching staff, players, wives, siblings, bar staff, committee members and parents who all took part in the challenges. Whether it was running, cycling or walking the dog, everybody played their part and should be proud of what we have together achieved.

The messages and generosity on our Just Giving page has been overwhelming. Our initial target of £3,000 has been smashed and we currently sit at £4,850. This will make a huge difference to the Football Club and the NHS. To everybody who has supported us we want to say a big thank you.

To the local businesses who continue to support our club in many different ways, again we want to take this opportunity to thank you, your support is greatly appreciated.

So, what next. As we are all restricted to what we can and can’t do at the moment this is a difficult one to answer. As mentioned at the beginning of the month, we are working towards the ‘end of lockdown’ party in which we hope will be an opportunity to bring everyone together and celebrate what we have achieved in working together to beat the virus. Who knows when this will be but we will continue to plan and be positive.

We have been kindly given some donations from some local business which we have decided to raffle out to anybody who has donated on our Just Giving page. This draw will take place next Saturday. All names will be put into a hat and picked at random. Prizes are:

£50 voucher from Ubunti Hair and Beauty Salon in Kidlington
£20 voucher from Bartletts Butchers in Kidlington
£20 voucher from The Red Lion in Kidlington
A full car valet from Gleamteam Kidlington

Please continue to share our Just Giving page and donate where you can, we would love to get to that £5,000 mark. Anybody who has donated twice will be in the hat twice for the raffle so will have more chance of winning one of the prizes.
