Kidlington’s development team won their opening match in Uhlsport Division One East on Tuesday night. The victory was a magnificent team effort against a very strong Marlow United side by three goals to one. Despite having to defend for large parts of the match they thouroughly deserved their victory.
Teenage midfielder Aaron Morton tapped home following up his own header after 15 minutes, then debutant striker Elliott Powell picked himself up after being fouled and scored confidently from the penalty spot after 25 minutes. The greens led 2-0 at half time but this match was far from over and substitute Jean Clade Etienne reduced the arrears for Marlow United after 55 minutes. The match was mainly played in the greens half for 15 minutes but then after 72 minutes, the skilful Jack Gaul (pictured) smashed the ball home from 25 yards. Following this goal the greens looked comfortable.
Another highlight for Kidlington was the introduction of sixteen year old Archie Brew after 84 minutes. This was a great bonus for the club and shows the direction the club is going at all levels.
