Edging closer to success

Another win in bag
Kirkstyle maintained their unbeaten league run with a hard fought victory over Kingholm in Dumfries.
After winning the toss and bowling first Blair Dearie struck with the 3rd ball of the match. Producing sharp inswing through his 10 overs he returned figures of 2-22.
Kingholm raced to 100 from the first 20 overs but were reined in during the second half of their innings. Javed Iqbal (2-32) , Asghar Ali Tabasum (3-26) & Colin Doyle (2-31) doing the damage.
Kingholm were bowled out in the 40th over for 149.
The chase got off to a positive start with openers Alun Johnstone & Gareth Walsh punishing the bad ball and finding the rope regularly until inexplicably Walsh was given out LBW after clearly hitting the ball into his pads for 12.
Tabasum (25) joined Johnstone and moved the score along nicely until he popped one up to cover.
Johnstone continued to patiently wait for the bad ball and kept the scoreboard ticking.
"The Batsman" Steven Rice (35) scored freely off his pads as the Kingholm attack struggled with their lines to the left hander.
Johnstone brought up his first 50 of the season and the pair looked like they would see Kirkstyle home until Rice got himself out with 5 needed, trying to end the game in one hit.
Andy Neil (1) came and went quickly but Johnstone put an end to any nerves, driving through the covers for 4 in the 35th over.
A fitting end for Man of the match Johnstone to hit the winning runs, finishing on 54 not out.
Another good game played in great Spirits and another step closer to promotion for Kirkstyle.
Next week sees Kirkstyle host Glasgow South at Scott Ellis Park.
Thanks again to Cann Print of Crookedholm for their continued support.
