Debutants shine
This was an excellent start for the under 7's - it was their first game of the season with Harry Forster, Joshua Hanson, Dylan Jowett, Oliver Poppleton, Jacob Smith and George West making their debuts for King Cross Park.
There were excellent playing conditions at Sherburn who put out a strong and more experienced team. Sherburn scored first but KXP pulled it back to 2-2 by half time with good runs and tackling well in defence. In the second half KXP worked well together with excellent tackling, good runs and passes (!) all round. It was a nail biting match with scores neck and neck but KXP sneaked ahead in the final minutes and scoring again to take a 2 point lead. Sherburn never gave up and nearly scored again in the last play of the game but KXP defence remained strong.
A great game well played by all.
