King Cross Park A 26 Silsden 10
For the second time in a month King Cross Park A faced their Keighley rivals and started well with a strong defensive set followed by an attacking play forcing a dropout. Hooker Danny Hildred brought the forwards on and went close himself before the ball was moved to centre Halden Thoseby then powerhouse winger Henry Wilson who looked to be held up but somehow used his go go gadget arms to place the ball over the line. Silsden had a glut of downhill possession for the next 20 minutes and eventually scored a rubbish 1 metre try. The forwards again set the platform and stand off Josh Robertshaw created a gaping hole for prop Chris Metcalf to score by the sticks and turn round with a 10 - 6 lead.
With conditions worsening Park had to earn every inch and the hard work paid off when full back Jonny Binns burst down the right and gave a perfectly timed inside pass to put captain loose forward Matt Brown over. The visitors came back with another boring short range score and with time running out the up the jumper message was sent from the dugout. As ever the King Cross babes showed no respect to the coaching staff and duly spun the ball wide to put student waster centre Matty Ward in at the corner. Man of the match softy winger Aaron Brown made good yards up the middle, followed by a 30 yard break from scrum half Danny Charlton, then cheeky monkey Robertshaw back flipped the ball to put the skipper through for a brace. Robertshaw completed the scoring with a 75% kicking ratio.
Tries - Henry Wilson, Chris Metcalf, Matt Brown 2, Matty Ward
