Since the first pride game in 2020, the Steelers, Harlequins club and Foundation have continued to build on our partnership, as we all drive for inclusivity in our sport.
As well as attending the third annual pride game this weekend, we were delighted to have attended a recent training session as the men's squad prepare for the game. Learning from the pros and speaking to players and coaches was a great experience for us to take back to our sessions.
The weekends activities will begin with an event at the London Stock Exchange to close the day on Thursday.
On Friday both clubs are co-hosting the first conference on LGBTQ+ Inclusion In The English Game at the Stoop. We are excited to have guest speakers from England Rugby, Premiership Rugby, The RPA, IGR and other stake holders attending. We aim to find better ways to work together, listen to lived experience and learn from each other so our game can be more inclusive.
Then, before the Quins take on Wasps on Saturday and Harlequins Women take on Sale Sharks on Sunday, our players and coaches will work with Harlequins community coaches to deliver a Kids Skills Clinic on Saturday morning.
Thank you Harlequins for your work and leadership in this space. It’s great to see you championing rugby for all and adding huge visibility for the community.
