We’re proud to be launching the 11th year of our Pathway to Rugby program, designed for those who are brand new to rugby or have only played a little.
The Pathway has introduced over 700 adults to rugby, most of whom had never played a team sport before. The program is made possible through the sponsorship of our sponsors: UBS; McGill and Partners; and the Two Brewers.

Pathway to Rugby – FAQs
Where is training?
All sessions take place at KXSRFC, Memorial Park, West Ham.
When is training?
Tuesday: 19:00 – 20:30
Saturday: 11:30 – 13:00
When does it start?
The first session is Tuesday 26th August.
The second session on Saturday 30th August will be followed by a Festival of Rugby celebrating the King’s Cross Steelers’ 30th season — so try to keep your afternoon free!
Do I need to attend every session?
We know life can be busy. While you don’t need to make every session, rugby is a contact sport, so the more you attend, the easier (and more enjoyable) it will be.
How long does the program run?
The Pathway runs until the end of December, finishing with a full 80-minute rugby match with your teammates.
What happens after Pathway ends?
You’ll graduate into one of the Steelers’ squads or our partner women’s team, the Vixens.
How much does Pathway cost?
£95 (payable in 1, 2, or 3 instalments). If you join the club after Pathway, this fee is deducted from your membership cost.
What’s included?
Are there other costs to consider?
To start, you’ll only need basic sports kit. As the program progresses, you’ll need rugby shorts, boots, and a gumshield.
Who can I contact with questions?
