The 1st XV welcomed Writtle Wanderers to Steelers Stadium, having emerged victorious in a low-scoring away fixture earlier in the season. However, a devastating 15-minute spell of free-flowing attacking rugby, during which Steelers scored 19 unanswered points, quickly dispelled any notion that this would be another tight contest.

The scoring was opened by a converted try from Gus, who was on hand again just two minutes later, with BCC duly adding the extras on both occasions. Two further tries followed soon after, with James and Dan both dotting down.

Writtle responded with a well-worked try of their own, but Steelers were soon back on the hunt. Converted scores from Morgan followed, before Peter produced a wonderful coast-to-coast effort, racing in from 40 metres out. Andy added the finishing touches to a high-scoring first half, sending Steelers into the break with a commanding 43–5 lead.

Steelers kicked off the second half and crossed shortly afterwards, with Jono going over from close range. Tom, making his starting debut, then added the try of the half with a superb effort from 70 metres. A rare quiet period followed, with the scoreboard remaining untroubled for ten minutes. Chris then finished off another strong team move, before the returning Charlie added the final score of the match.

This was an outstanding team performance from the entire matchday squad, not only in attack but also in defence, with Writtle rarely allowed to venture beyond the halfway line.

The 1st XV now have two weekends off before travelling to Clacton on 14/02/26.
