Couple of Coleman strikes hand #thecastle the title

AUL Division 3A Saturday

Howth Celtic – 2

Kingswood Castle – 2

Kingswood Castle are the 2015/16 AUL Division 3A Saturday champions after they twice came from behind to secure the point needed to ensure they would take home their first ever league title in their three year history last Saturday at Celtic Park.

It was more a ‘cup final’ game than your regular league outing as it was both sides’ final fixture of the campaign and both sides were still gunning for the title. Howth required a home win and nothing less to leapfrog Castle and take the title, while Kingswood needed at least one more point to solidify their position as top dogs.

Howth got off to the perfect start when a corner ball was only half-cleared to the back post where they met a free header which flew into the net to put them one to the good.

However, ten minutes from the break a crisp Cillian Rohan cross found Brian Coleman who lashed home a spectacular first-time volley to even the scores going into the break.

The opening twenty minutes of the second period was very much back and forth where the next goal would prove of vital importance as Howth were in desperate need of going back in front while Kingswood needed an insurance goal.

It was Howth who would strike next after a well-worked counter attack, however, with just over ten minutes remaining, Coleman again popped up to fire home a long-distance scorcher which fizzled into the bottom corner in what would prove to be the league winning goal.

Kingswood have now won their first ever league title in their short 3 year history and also have claimed a title in their first season in the AUL.
