Division 3 League Result: SCORE: St. James Gate FC 1-0 Kingswood Castle FC REPORT: In what was the return fixture against St. James’s Gate — after facing them in the Shield last weekend — we came into this League game looking to build on that performance. Unfortunately, we have no one to blame for this defeat but ourselves. We created plenty of chances and could easily have been two or three goals up by half-time, but poor finishing let us down. To make matters worse, we conceded two penalties within five minutes. Goalkeeper Marcel Bleu did brilliantly to save the first, but unfortunately couldn’t stop the second. In the second half, we pressed the home side and dominated large spells of possession, but once again, wayward finishing and poor decision-making in the final third cost us dearly. Did we deserve something from the game? Possibly. But this must serve as a lesson moving forward: you have to take your chances, you have to be up for every single game, and you have to come out fighting. Unfortunately, the home side simply wanted it that little bit more than we did — and that made the difference.
