ANY HELP IS BETTER THAN NO HELP

2020 has certainly been a testing year, it’s been a year no one ever thought possible. We have had many games cancelled, games played behind closed doors and so many rules and regulations to take onboard and adhere to.

We know there has been a great deal of disappointment attached to some of the decisions made for the safety of all our club members, and we very much hope that sometime soon we will be back playing and watching the game we all love.

Financially, the club has been hit hard, as have many grassroots clubs. We have been unable to open or continue to generate income to the level that we once could, and although we are in the process of trying to secure government support, this cannot keep the facility going indefinitely.

We have made provisions to freeze some payments but of course, there are still ongoing costs totalling some £2,500 per month that need to be paid regardless of whether the facility is open or not.

Fundraising has always been an important part of the club, the cancellation of the gentleman’s evenings, tournaments, boxing, and presentation events that generate income has left us in a precarious position.

Therefore, we are looking at all options for financial help and fundraising activities.

We intend to expand our current ‘100 Club’ fundraising initiative to include and encourage teams to take part too. The team ball option is £20 per month for 5 balls, (teams can decide how the £20 is generated). A total of 4 prize balls will be drawn every month for teams/ individuals to win between £25 to £100.

if you are interested in joining teh 100 club please download the form found at..

The Junior Committee are discussing the option of a club challenge for teams to take part in. The suggestion is ’80 days around the world’, 80 days to run, cycle, walk, swim, scoot etc for the club to complete the 24,901 miles. Teams can track and share their data, this will support managers and coaches to keep their teams fit while training and matches are suspended, plus a prize for the team who records the most miles and or raises the most funds in sponsorship from your family and friends.

We have worked so hard as a committee, club, and community to have such a great facility for teams to enjoy, so we would really like to encourage your support to have this to come back to. Any ideas you may have would be gratefully received.
