Home Draw for the Royals

KIRKLEY & PAKEFIELD 0 WROXHAM 0

Kirkley & Pakefield FC fielded an unchanged starting eleven for last Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division match at Walmer Road against Wroxham FC. This fifth v sixth placed clash saw both teams finish in the same positions after an uninspiring 0-0 draw, the ‘Royals’ second in succession. The match saw very little early rhythm spoilt by the strong winds with neither side taking control the first real chance came to the visitors on 25minutes Nathan Stewart shot from close in with home keeper Adam Rix making a fine one handed save, in the home defence Owen French made two impressive headed clearances. On attack the ‘Royals’ saw Jack Herbert header win a corner from this another good header from Herbert was cleared.

Keeper Rix had to make good stop at the other end. In this wind affected match the ‘Royals’ started to assert some pressure after the break with on one break Kyle Haylock lofting the ball over the keeper but just over the bar when looking a cert to score, Callum Bell then produced another good move with Haylock with his effort going out for a corner. In the 65th minute Haylock produced another good run and a fine ball to Jack Herbert who shot from inside the area with George Macrae in the visitor’s goal making a good save. The keeper then came out to beat Herbert to a crucial ball which stopped a clear run at goal, Herbert put Russell through only for him to shot wide. The home defence were holding out well to see a couple of shots by the ‘Yachtsman’ going wide. With five minutes remaining Ross King came on to replace Cameron Russell, on 87minutes Wroxham’s Harley Black saw red after a reckless foul on Miguel Lopez from the resulting free-kick Lopez put in a good ball for Herbert to see his glancing head saved on the line, with very little further action the match ended in a goalless stalemate.
