The visitors were quick to attack with fast paced play from the first whistle, but Knutsford saw strong defensive strategy with Amanda Rees, Katie Price and Susie Hough working in unison to reflect play coming in to the Brooklands attacking third.
Charlotte Chew and Sarah Fielding worked hard to channel the ball through the midfield but through determination play was repeatedly turned over by Brooklands quick challenges.
The even play continued throughout the first half with impressive saves from Knutsford keeper Lucy White who was on top form as several short corners were awarded against Knutsford. However, despite the best efforts of the home team the first half saw Brooklands take a 1-0 lead against the home side.
The second half started with both teams eager to change the pace of play and Brooklands made consistent substitutions to help maintain the energy and pace of the match. A flurry of goals from the opposition saw Brooklands take a 3-0 lead with another two goals fought for through short corners.
However Knutsford dug deep and saw some good attacking play with Elin Rees making determined runs to find Katie Price’s well placed balls through Brooklands defensive circle. Despite the continued fight from both sides and the best efforts of Knutsford midfield which saw Sarah Fielding on the receiving end of lifted balls and stick tackles the game concluded with a 5-0 win for Brooklands.
Man of the match was awarded jointly to Lucy White and Elin Rees.
