Announcing the 20th Anniversary of Knutsford Rugby Club!!!

Little did we know that 20 years ago when Johnny Wilkinson kicked for World Cup Glory to lift the 2023 World Cup, he wasn't just making history for English Rugby, but for Knutsford too.

In the moments after the Webb Ellis trophy was lifted and that iconic image of Martin Johnson was captured, our very own Sir Colin 'Eyebrows' Hurrell asked the question why a town as rich in culture and heritage such as Knutsford didn't have its own Rugby club?

So he set off searching the local watering holes and managed to gather some 15 men, a mixture of retired pro's and some totally new to the game of rugby and Knutsford Rugby Club was born.

In March 2004 the inaugural match was played vs Northwich and Sir Colins vision was realised in glorious fashion from there the only way was up. Joining the official league structure in September 2004 Knutsford grew to 3 senior teams, a ever thriving junior and mini's systems encouraging 1000's of children to wear the blue of Knutsford shirts (and even the coveted pink tour shirts!). We have even gathered some international alumni in our short history.

To celebrate 20 fantastic years, the club is extremely excited to announce an incredible lineup of events for the 2023/24 season - as you can see from the attached we have all the bases covered. These have all been organised as part of the World Cup build up and to gather momentum helping the club celebrate 20 years of playing (and partying) with pride. The events come to a crescendo with our Anniversary Rugby Ball next summer...set to be the best yet!!

The frivolities started with the World Cup opener last Friday and our first events are our Ladies Night and Darts competition.

Tickets have now been released, so please help us celebrate and join us in raising a glass to our great club!
