2 tries from Knutsford but ultimately not enough to stay near Didsbury Toc H

Tries from Declan Yoxall and Sam Cook in either half were not enough to stop Didsbury rolling over Knutsford on a sunny afternoon in Cheshire on Saturday.

The team were missing a significant amount of players as the season draws to a close but were the team who started in ascendency from the off. Early on Jack Field and Kyle Blake announced themselves with some great carries and rucking to create a strong platform for the opening backs salvos. James Docherty pulling the strings for centres Cook and Bensky and the pressure told. Some great phases saw Knutsford make it to the top corner and coming back the other way, Docherty found Cook who in turn hit hooker Declan Yoxall running at full speed. Nothing was going to stop him from 10 yards out and the extras were added. Knutsford found themselves on the front foot and in the lead.

From then on though it was all Didsbury, Knutsford set pieces were struggling, in the scrum the wily and bulkier Didsbury pack ran havoc and in the lineouts the wind caused no end of issues and Didsbury were able to capitalise with their dynamic jumpers

They scored several tries despite heroic defense at times but the pressure was too much.

In the 2nd half the plan was to regroup and focus on our own game, phases and then out to the backs but lacking the usual pace and guile out wide the trademark staunch defense from Didsbury soaked up most of the attacks.

Early on Knutsford lost playmaker flyhalf Docherty to an ankle injury which added salt to the wound but Knutsford continued to fight and Cook filling in at 10 was able to carve out a score midway through to salvage some hope for the home side.

Ultimately the spoils went to Didsbury resulting in home and away losses for the Knutsford side but in no way did the score reflect fairly on the performance
