Lakenham Vs Thetford

Saturday Lakenham welcomed Thetford to Hilltops hoping to continued the unbeaten home record this season!!!

Thetford bosted a monstrous pack, it has transpired that this is the result of nuclear testing around the Thetford area in the early 1960s. Thetford started the stronger of the sides, with big carries and some great lines from their outside centre- his lines were as dangerous as Prince Phillip behind the wheel of a Range Rover.

Lakenham ultimately gave Thetford way too much space and allowed the opposition to score 3 tries in quick succession. Lakenham's inability to start well is similar to that of somebody on Jobseekers- they dont wake up until 3pm....
Harry Watkinson who was man of the match saved Lakenham's blushes on multiple occasions with 3 steals overall and 2 in the first half!!

After half an hour Lakenham began to make inroads into the Thetford defence with strong running from Will Bartlett setting a very good foundation for attacking ball, however Lakenham were unable to capitalise. Lakenham were rewarded for Thetford indiscipline when Jordan Holland nailed a penalty from 35 metres out to get Lakenham on the scoreboard!!!

At half time there were strong words from stand in Captain Dorian Squires and coach Justin Williams. This seemed to have a positive impact as Lakenham defended with a heightened sense of intensity at the breakdown and in open play, the speed of the defensive line in the second half was akin to a bunch of scousers chasing a £50 cheque from Cash Converters!!!

Thetford ultimately proved too much for Lakenham and ran out convincing winners, the end of the match was marred by a scuffle between Thetfords number 3, who had consistently been trying to fight our players all day, however he was to receive a lovely diet of Ginger Scottish knuckle as he was put on the floor by Ali Mckenzie.. Ali was to receive a red card for this, however as he is Scottish and Ginger we are appealing the red card on the grounds of racism!!!

Honorable mentions go to Munashe Chibinjana who was phenomenal on the wing today, Harry Watkinson who was man of the match by a country mile and Jamie Cook who continues to get better with every game.

Thats all for now
