Meet jet-setter Charlotte in this week's edition.

Charlotte's a feisty little player who's heart probably lies in the number 12 shirt, though I doubt she'd admit it.

Name: Charlotte Richardson AKA LottieLou
Age: 29
Position: Hook/Prop

When did you start playing rugby and why?
19 - at university because at the sports fair they were the one team looking like they had fun (read: they were drinking pints) and I figured I’d fit in well. They were the only team with women of all shapes and sizes and so welcoming.

Can you remember your first training session or game with Lakenham?
I moved to Norwich with zero friends so contacted Lake on Facebook, the next Tuesday two of the girls picked me up for training without hesitation!

What do you like to eat before a match?
Peanut butter on toast.

How do you calm your pre-match nerves?
Loud music and black coffee

What training sessions or drills do you like best?
Match specific drills which you can see how to translate into the game! Especially for the forwards

What three qualities are most important for succeeding in your position or rugby in general?

  1. Teamwork
  2. Quick to adapt to situations on the pitch
  3. Listening and learning from more senior players

What has been your favourite rugby social?
12 pubs of Christmas! Despite almost missing my 1am bus to the airport and not sobering up until I got to Qatar 12 hours later in the same outfit, it was a wild social for a few reasons.

What do you do outside of rugby?
I travel for work so I’m often on a plane or getting lost. You can usually find me eating dumplings, talking about dumplings or looking for a place to eat dumplings...

Finally, can we have two truths and one lie?

  1. I’ve never scored a try
  2. I lost a tooth during a game
  3. I once ate 26 dumplings in one sitting

If you want to see Charlotte's winning smile, head to one of our training sessions on Tuesday evenings at our Hilltops ground, NR14 8DU, from 7pm. Or come and meet some of the team at the Norwich Medics RFC charity day tomorrow!
