What. A. Treat.

A toast to Dee!
- Everyone, all the time

This week, meet team matriarch Dee. Eliciting equal amounts of fear and admiration, shrouded in a cloak of mystery and surrounded by craft work, Dee is the team coach we all want to make proud. You'll see Dee at training in her trademark bobble hat clutching the register, a secret book only she understands how to navigate.

Name: Dee Mann aka "Our Vicky"
Age: 33
Position: Originated in the front row as tight head prop, have since nearly collected the full set 1-15. Currently coaching.

When did you start playing rugby and why?
I had a taster session at high school and loved it. So signed straight up when I got to uni.

Can you remember your first training session or game with Lakenham?
I have never trained with Lakenham, although I was playing while being ‘retired’. But I remember turning up to coach and having great fun working with the ladies from session 1.

What do you like to eat before a match?
Banana for the win when playing.

How do you calm your pre-match nerves?
I don’t, I shout them out during the game as I coach from the sidelines.

What training sessions or drills do you like best?
For me any session where the ladies are focused and on it mental is a brilliant session.

What three qualities are most important for succeeding in your position or rugby in general?
As a coach the top three things are:

  1. encouraging thinking players
  2. being creative
  3. making sure people are having fun

What has been your favourite rugby social?
My favourite socials were always toga or PJ socials, no need to change when you get home.

What do you do outside of rugby?
Hobbie excessively.

Finally, can we have two truths and one lie?

  1. I have broken both ankles
  2. I have skydived
  3. I am allergic to champagne

Head to the clubhouse tonight from 7pm to hear Dee coaching the Ladies in a friendly training game against Crusaders ladies. Or come to training on a Tuesday evening for a 7pm start to get your name in Dee's register.
