Hard day at the office!

This Week Lakenham made the trip over to Swaffham for the first time in nearly 5 years. Although without Captain Jordan Holland due to work commitments, Lakenham were bolstered with returns for James Cook, Jack Codling and Mark Butcher.
Lakenham started relatively well, building phases and gaining territory, however the story of their afternoon was that the penalty count would undo all of our hard work in attack. Swaffham's back row were persistent at the breakdown, constantly challenging Lakenham's ball retention. Swaffham were rewarded when continuous penalties from Lakenham allowed Swaffham to break off the back of a scrum to dot down.
Although behind, Lakenham were not concerned and continued to show determination in defence and a willingness to attack, Lakenham just let itself down with having too many one-up runners and therefore gave away one too many turnovers. Inevitably the Swaffham pressure told and they managed to score two more well worked tries taking the HT score to 17-0.
The Lakenham of old would have folded, however runs from Arturo Bernal, Mike Barber and great distribution from Chris Sheehy started to give Lakenham some level of dominance at the start of the half. Following an extended period of pressure, Mike Barber scored a fantastic solo try having spun out of a tackle to bring Lakenham back within parity. The Lakenham pack started to assert dominance in the scrum, however Swaffham's structured waves of attack were ultimately too good for Lakenham who switched off in key periods.. this allowed Swaffham to score 3 more tries. Although behind, Lakenham continued their search for another try, some fantastic back play allowed Dorian Squires to score in the corner.

A great game against very tough opposition, also they were great hosts

Final score
Swaffham 34-14 Lakenham

MOTM: Arturo Bernal
DOD: Damo Brook- for not bringing proper boots
