Lancaster City Football Club can confirm that Paul Dawson has agreed to join Bamber Bridge following an approach last week. Paul joined his hometown club from Brig in January 2019. Paul was subject to approaches from Warrington, Ashton United and FC United last month, and after speaking to these clubs he turned down their offers to stay at the Giant Axe, albeit on a requested increased salary. Paul rejected the offer of a contract stating he didn’t want to prevent the opportunity to play higher in future which the club understood.

Paul informed the manager yesterday morning that he, his grandad and his advisors believe he has more chance of playing higher if he makes a sideways move and takes on a new challenge. Paul has been an excellent player for the club but things in football clearly change quickly and we move on, no player is bigger than the club and the current players and staff are completely focussed on our upcoming games.
