  In January 2021 our friend, colleague and team-mate George Melling was diagnosed with MND. A non-league superstar in the North West, George started his football career as a youth team player at Blackpool and Morecambe before going onto an illustrious semi-pro career playing for Bamber Bridge, Lancaster City, Kendal Town, Coppull United, Ashton United, Leek, Longridge, Clitheroe, Nelson, Northwich Victoria and Altrincham.

  As with everything he does, George is tackling this illness head on, and has the support of a fantastic family network and the wider reach of friends who will all play a part in helping George fight MND.  

This weekend, 6 of his former team-mates and managers, Mark Fell (Lancaster City Manager), Lee Ashcroft (Longridge Town Manager), Andy Teague, Peter Wright, Danny Mahoney, Farrell Kilbane and Keiran Walmsley will attempt to ride 240 miles via all his previous non-league clubs to raise money for George and his family and awareness of this horrible disease!

We are hoping to get as many people as possible to the stadiums over this next weekend to welcome George and spend some time celebrating a fantastic career and encouraging his fight against MND .
