Matlock Town
Matlock are currently 8th this season, a position in the table that keeps them very competitive as the teams begin to separate. They missed out in the playoffs last campaign after spending much of the season top, and have occupied second place at different points this time out, but two managerial changes have been destabilising. Paul Phillips departed in September before his replacement Craig Elliott left for Buxton. They are currently led by Martin Carruthers.

They have also lost midfielder Alex Wiles who, incidentally, scored against Lancaster in the earlier meeting of the sides this season. He was also Matlock's top scorer but is followed up by wingers John Johnston and Alex Byrne who have five apiece.

Matlock will be looking to arrest a patchy run of form, having dropped points in four of their last six games. They have a couple of games in hand on Warrington Town in 5th and are currently four points behind them, but those gaps are always at risk of expanding.

Lancaster City
Jake Connelly came on as a substitute and scored alongside Brad Carsley to rescue a point for Lancaster on Tuesday. Both scored their first of the season at the Neuven Stadium. It was the winger's first appearance since September, and he may be available for another cameo tomorrow.

Lancaster are in 16th and three points off the drop, but Marske in 19th have five games in hand, so City must keep picking up points to move away from the relegation zone. Two wins from 13 home league games offers room for improvement, and while Lancastrian conditions often complicate matters, hopefully the players can draw on the support of Giant Axe to get them over the line in the second half of the season.

Head-to-Head
Alex Wiles' goal was the difference in the reverse fixture, but Lancaster have had success over Matlock in the recent past. Only one of the last five has seen more than one goal scored.
