After a slow start for Lancaster and two good chances for the visitors, City went behind to a soft headed goal as Hendesford’s big number 9 Kieran Wells best Jack Sims to nod into a relatively open goal.

Lancaster desperately needed to improve and from the restart they did just that. Dan Moss looped a back post effort towards goal which ended up just the wrong side of the far post.

Another couple of chances and a corner for the Dollies unfortunately didn’t reap any immediate reward. Ten minutes later on the half hour mark Hendesford’s latest attack resulting in a corner did subsequently result in a goal. A back post effort from forward Dan Sweeney found its way into the back of City’s net.

Town went close again as Sweeney drilled an effort wide and high after cutting in from the Wing.

Lancaster still kept pressing as we approached half time. There was definitely a will from the players to their way back into this game.

As the second half got underway City started to pile on the pressure. It wasn’t log before they found the back of the net. Good work led to a corner where a clever step over by Charlie Bailey left David Norris pass the ball into the corner through a crowded box. ‘There’s only one Chuck Norris’ rung around the Giant Axe and City set themselves up for a dramatic come back.

The Dollies made an attacking change on 57 minutes bringing Jarvis off to be replaced by Paul Dawson.

City pressed and pressed. A one on one chance for Brad Carsley found the keepers legs rather than the goal and the subsequent corner gave a long range effort for Rob Wilson which unfortunately went over the bar.

As the game went on and chances came and didn’t result in a second, we started to wonder whether this wouldn’t be our day.

The introductions of Luke Jordan and Ryan White gave the Dollies more attacking options and City looked to attack Hendesford as we went into the last 5 minuntes. Finally a goal came!

A quick corner from Rob Wilson whipped in at pace was met with power by Paul Dawson who carried the ball into the net back post.
