Lancaster City are pleased to welcome new centre forward Rhys Turner to the club. A former PNE Academy graduate, Rhys initially signed for City as an 18 year old before a move to Stockport County. He went onto play in the Football League for Oldham Athletic, Macclesfield and Morecambe before moving to Barrow in the National League.
The 25 year old, Preston based forward suffered hamstring injuries which blighted the latter part of his career but now after a period of rehabilitation is fully fit and is looking forward to getting back onto the pitch at the Giant Axe. “I’m delighted to be here” he said, “I’m focussed on getting back out there and scoring goals to help the club build on a great season last year. I know a lot of the lads here already and there’s some really quality in the side, I can’t see any reason why we wont be challenging this time round.”
Dollies Boss Mark Fell says Turner is a real capture for the club, “his pedigree is outstanding, he’ll give us something we’ve not had for 18 months in terms of a striker who wants to get in behind and will compliment what we already have. He’s only 25 and has worked incredibly hard to get over some really bad injuries, so this is a fresh start for him and a chance to enjoy his football again.”
Rhys is the latest summer recruit for City, with Andrew Teague, Jacob Gregory, Tom Kilifin and Paul Dugdale all returning the to Giant Axe as the club gear up towards the start of the new season on Saturday 19th September.
