Liversedge
Liversedge are currently in 21st place, six points away from safety but with two games in hand on Nantwich (the team above the relegation zone), one of which is tomorrow’s fixture. Postponements have given them a tough schedule though – they played four games last week across two competitions, progressing to the West Riding County Cup final last Thursday.
After a tricky mid-season period, they have begun to rise closer to safety with four wins and two draws in their last ten games, which puts them in the top 10 in the league across that period.
In recent months especially, the goals of Nathan Cartman who scored in four consecutive games in February and has three in the last three. Forward Joe Walton has also been in the goals, scoring two in his last four.
Lancaster City
City will be looking to put the 2-1 loss at Warrington Rylands on Saturday in the rear-view mirror as they finally make the trip up to Liversedge. The last four away games have been close affairs by scoreline, with the 0-0 at Guiseley offering plenty of chances for Lancaster to take three points, while leads were lost at Nantwich and Rylands. The win at Belper, where David Norris’ late strike took Lancaster over the line, is the recent blueprint.
Lancaster’s overall form still ranks highly within the league, and with 10 goals scored in the last six, and no blanks drawn since the draw at Guiseley. There is plenty of threat throughout the ranks – the last four goals have come across defence, midfield and attack.
Head-to-Head
Other than the earlier meeting this season, Lancaster have only met with Liversedge once, in the FA Trophy last season when a 3-1 win was achieved.
Here are those results:
30/11/2021: Liversedge 1-3 Lancaster City (FA Trophy)
25/10/2022: Lancaster City 0-0 Liversedge (Northern Premier League)
