Workington:
The Reds head to Lancashire after suffering two 2-0 defeats in succession to teams at different ends of the NPL Premier Division table, those coming away at high-flying Hyde United and a home loss to relegation-threatened Bradford Park Avenue. In David Symington, Workington possess the current top goalscorer still active in the competition after Jonathon Margetts departed Matlock for King’s Lynn Town in Vanarama National League North. Symington’s 20 goals include one against the Dolly Blues and he recently went on a scoring streak of seven goals in five games, including fixtures against the top two sides Radcliffe and Warrington Rylands.

Under the stewardship of Danny Grainger, Workington currently sit 15th on the ladder. The Reds are eleven points shy of the Dolly Blues having played a game more.

Lancaster City:
Since the Dolly Blues suffered defeat against Hyde United in an uncharacteristic performance during Chris Willcock’s managerial debut, Lancaster have gone on to record three victories in succession. Late goals have featured in all three games as Dom Lawson notched a late winner away at Bradford Park Avenue’s Horsfall Stadium, Christian Sloan’s moment of individual brilliance was the highlight at home to Matlock Town and even a late penalty by Ilkeston Town last weekend amounted to little given City’s commanding lead in Derbyshire.

Charlie Bailey has been en~fuego since the turn of the year and scored another superb goal against Ilkeston, this time cutting in from the right to finish with his left foot. In terms of creativity on the field, he’s joined by Nic Evangelinos, who has worked hard to regain fitness.

Lancaster feature several former Workington talents including Evangelinos, Matty Clarke and manager Chris Willcock. Brad Carroll returned last weekend and played an hour at Ilkeston after his own injury concerns. Earlier in the season, Workington prevailed on a cold and wet Tuesday night at Borough Park, 2-1 was the final score with Simon Grand scoring a late consolation.
