After a winless January, Lancaster City got off to the perfect start in February to continue their unbeaten run against the Lions of Guiseley.
The game was a slow burner, the first chance for Guiseley came on 15 minutes when Lewis Whitman's effort from 25 yards whistled past the post. The hosts pressed for an opener and on 19 minutes forced Aidan Dowling into a fine double save, firstly from Gabriel Johnson and then John Lufudu.
As the game stretched, Lancaster City started to threaten going forward, Lewis Coulton fizzing a low cross into the box in which Marcus Cusani just couldn't reach to turn it in for his first for the Club, as that attack broke down one cropped up for the hosts again, Lewis Whitman's header flashing wide.
Cusani again on the half hour mark had a shot from the edge of the box which Guiseley 'keeper Joe Cracknall gathered. Cusani was involved in the opener 3 minutes later. It was his cross which landed at the feet of the latest Centurion, Nic Evangelinos and his shot was saved by Cracknall, the rebound fell to Lewis Mansell who tapped it home.
Guiseley's best chance came on 41 minutes. Lewis Whitman down the left got his shot away, it had Aidan Dowling beat, but Harrison Beeden was on the line to clear the ball away. 0-1 to Lancaster at half time.
Lancaster City came out of the blocks first in the second half, Mansell looking for a second sees his effort from the left saved, Evangelinos for the rebound this time but as the ball was on a tight angle and his chance went over.
Now comes a couple of melee's at either end. Guiseley hit the bar twice and the post from a free kick, which was scrambled away.
Mansell's second came from a melee from a corner, he poked him his and Lancaster City's second of the game on 70 minutes.
5 minutes later Guiseley threatened a comeback when Jack Emmett evaded 2 defenders for an easy finish, but it would to be the final real chance of the game as the Dollies kept the Guiseley front line at arms length. Aidan Dowling making an instinctive save on 79 minutes and as the hosts got desperate to avoid a second defeat on the spin, Lebrun Mbeka saw yellow for simulation in the box when looking for a penalty.
The win would be Lancaster City's first win in 6 games in all competitions and with tricky games coming in February, the 3 points were certainly welcomed.
