As the big day fast approaches, we have moved to add two key components to the club for next year.
Firstly, Curtley Louw has signed again after his brilliant first year as overseas amatuer. In his first year at the club Curtley managed 733 runs and 55 wickets, an impressive feat given the alien conditions the 2024 "summer" provided. Scoring 6 fifties and 3 five wicket hauls, Curtley quickly adapted to conditions and gave everything in some brilliant knocks and unplayable spells.
Alongside this, his impressive coaching skills will also be an asset for the thriving junior section. He will again be here for the full year and we can not wait to have him over here.
Secondly in a great addition for the club, we have appointed Robbie Skelton as our head coach.
Boasting an impressive coaching CV, he will come and head up our coaches working with both junior and senior teams. Having worked previously with Cumbria age groups and with other clubs as well as his outgoing personality, he will be a real asset. Robbie has previously played a couple of games with the club and has been seen enjoying the facilities on the odd occasion, so most will already know Robbie.
Here is what the committee had to say.....
"We are delighted to get both these on board for 2025. Curtley was hugely popular with everyone at the club, a fantastic cricketer, great coach and brilliant guy. His laid back demeanour fit into the team really well and we are hoping he can fire back into the Northern League.
Robbie will bring a real energy to the club, he has already highlighted many areas to improve, both skill wise and psychologically. He shares our ethos around the junior players being the future and having worked with a couple of our juniors previously we know both how good a coach he is and how well received this will be"
