Langtoft finally shook off the monkey and got back to winning ways, after a run of 5 games without a win the Vikings managed a 0-4 win to get back on track.
After a frantic start which saw Thorney throw the kitchen sink at Langtoft, it was all one way traffic, new Vikings talisman Scott Spearink opened the scoring after a Dan Morris through ball found him free of the defence, Scott who had 7 goals already this season made no mistake firing low and hard into the goal. Not to be outshown, Ashley Firth got into the action scoring the next two goals, the first coming from a cross field pass from Matt Holland that found Ash with the freedom of the Thorney half, calmy passed the ball pass the helpless home keeper. Ash’s second came from a well worked corner, a knock down found him on the edge of the box a well hit volley left the Thorney keeper helpless. Now with the tails up the Vikings kept coming and Scott would round off the half after Jobi Froud headed the ball over the static Thorney defence and Scott does what he does best and fired the ball into the net.
The second half started how the first had ended, the only difference was the Vikings now found a home keeper in form, he pulled off countless saves and started to frustrate the away side who were eager to add to their first half lead, the breakthrough never came, with the home keeper even saving a penalty from the inform Spearink.
Langtoft Manager Ryan Hunnings said; "It feels great to get back to winning ways, we’ve been through a really tough patch and lost some games we should never have lost, but the win brings the good feeling back, and hopefully we can take this forward to the local derby next week against Baston.
It was pleasing today to see the lads play with a smile on their faces again, I think we put too much pressure on ourselves earlier in the season. The squad is looking very good now, we’ve moved some lads on, and brought in some real talent like Dan Pick who made his debut at the weekend and was very unlucky not to open his account."
