New signing makes a big impact

The Larks shook off Saturday's very disappointing result with a good away win at Paulton Rovers last night.

The first half of the game was pretty much level pegging as both sides threatened but couldn't find the net. Our keeper Shaun Semmens pulled off a couple of fine saves, and at the other end our newest signing Isaac Pearce, latterly of Fulham FC, struck a worldie against the bar.

After a spell of decent pressure it was the Larks who conceded first when Paulton were given plenty of space to fire past Shaun. However, unlike Saturday the Larks responded in a positive spirit, and the introduction of Aysa Corrick added steel to our forward line. The latter did well to hold the ball up and young Isaac showed immense composure in the box to get through a number of defenders and level the score.

The Larks continued to attack and were doing better at keeping the ball. This enabled midfielder Matt Britton to turn and fire a trademark rocket that Rovers' keeper Andrew Hannah could do nothing to keep out.

The finale of a strong second-half performance came only five minutes later when Isaac again showed determination as well as an eye for goal with an aggressive run towards the goal which resulted in a superb finish to make it 3-1.

We face a tough test away at Taunton Town on Saturday but this win should boost confidence.
