Albion fall to defeat.

Latchford fell to defeat on Saturday, when they faced a clinical Hindley side.

In a tight game, the difference was the visitors ability to convert pressure into points, and they were also able to take control of the game at crucial points of the game.

The opening score of the afternoon did not arrive until the 25th minute, and it was the hosts who struck when stand off, Matty Rudd, cleverly dummied his way through the Hindley defence, to cross near the posts ensuring his conversion was a formality.

The visitors hit a purple patch in the closing stages of the first half where they crossed for converted tries in the 35th and 38th minute.
A further penalty was added on the stroke of half time to hand them the initiative at the break

The hosts started the second half brightly, and on 47 minutes, Danny Brown used his strength to hold off the oncoming defence and plant the ball down over the Hindley line. Rudd’s conversion brought Albion back within two points, and the game was in the balance at this stage.

As with the first half, the visitors hit the hosts with two quick fire tries on 60 and 62 minutes, to ultimately put the game out of reach and deny the hosts any chance of a comeback.

Despite the defeat coach Martyn Ellis felt the experience will help his young side. There was also praise for outside backs Ben Harper and Jack Probert whose important carries helped relieve the workload on the forwards.

Next Saturday (03) sees Albion face a further though challenge when they travel to unbeaten league leaders Haresfinch.
