Sam Jago shows his class in high class team effort
In the second game of the evening Launceston stayed on and played Penzance. The game started with both teams at full pace and really having a good go. High quality rugby was provided across the park with both sets of forwards carrying well and the backs attacking with flair.
Both teams had a good kicking game with several of the Penzance lads having a massive boot. After good pressure from the forwards the pirates kicked out of defence. Sam Jago fielded the kick and set off like lightening up the left flank. He broke several tackles and sprinted through to score. 7-0
Penazance were desperate to get back and repeatedly stressed the home defence with real pace out wide. Launceston were forced to infringe and from a short penalty Penazance moved the ball quickly and crashed over to score. 7-5
A tense finish put both teams under pressure but the quality remained high. Josh Brown almost clinched the deciding score but was brought down just short. Penzance escaped and unfortunately it was left to Nowell Jnr to nick the decisive try. 7-12
A cracking, high-octane game played with real passion.
Gwernyfed v Penzance
In the final game of the evening a depleted Gwernyfed took on Penzance. Some of the Launceston boys were still standing offered themselves up and put in a cracking performance for the Welsh outfit. Billy, Freddie and Adam left everything on the pitch.
Another great game with Gwernyfed going two score up with tries from Freddie and Adam before Penzance stormed back to pinch it at the end. 14-12 FT
