Surveyors crumble under Owl onslaught
By Richard Wilkinson
Angry Owls cruise to the top of the Summer league with a confident display against a competent Surveyor outfit
The Angry Owls finished top of the league following this emphatic victory. The Owls made the usual slow start until the second wind kicked in for the players. Once this happened the Owls didn't look back with a fine display of incisive rugby. Bindloss was top try scorer with a total of five tries most of which were presented to him by excellent approach work by his team mates.
The Owls have made a habit of starting slowly but finishing strongly and this match was no exception. Somehow it appears that the Owls have superior fitness compared to the opposition they have met so far but how this has occurred is a mystery to Manager Richard Wilkinson, who quipped, "The lads seem to live on a diet of ale, pies and port scratchings and are are bone idle at best, they barely raise a sweat at training. But when they pull on a shirt for the Angry Owls something they refuse to lie down. This display was even more amazing as the team had no subs."
Some of the rugby displayed by the Owls, in monsoon like conditions, was a joy to behold with some fantastic lines being run by Fielder, Solly and Bindloss coupled with a miserly defence overwhelmed the plucky Surveyors side.
