Tired Akkies fight for draw
By Richard Wilkinson
hard fought game ends in draw
Many of the Angry Owls players were still fatigued from the previous day when they won the Leeds Akkies Touch Tournament and thy were missing the talismatic Graeme Sarjeant, who'd been called to an RFL meeting about the rules of the game.
The Angry Owls offered a debut to Tim Swann who hadn't touched a rugby ball for a number of years following a serious leg break which had ended his senior career. Any doubts over Tim's ability were quickly dispelled as he found his feet and made a good fist of this form of the game. If only he'd had a few more games under his belt he might have been able to reach the tryline after he broke the PWC's line and seemed certain to score. Unfortunately his legs tied up and he was caught by one of the chasing opposition.
Angry Owls let a 3-1 lead slip but to be fair to PWC they scored some good trys to level the scores at 3-3. It looked like the Owls might have secured victory when they went ahead 4-3 but PWC snatched a late try to draw.
