So, you are currently playing for Horsforth Saint Margaret’s in the Yorkshire Amateur League. What has your time at the club been like so far?

Yeah I am currently at HSM and I’ve enjoyed my time at the club before the season ended, we got into the finals of Terry Merritt cup I think it was called and we were en route to possibly win the league as well and I was enjoying playing football again.

Horsforth Saint Margaret’s are just one league away from semi-professional level. Do you hope to help them to reach this milestone in the near future?

At the moment yeah, I would like to help them get promoted into a semi pro league because they definitely have the players to play higher than what we are in now.

You have also played for several clubs at a higher level such as Albion Sports, Hendon FC and Chipstead FC. Has this experience helped you to grow as a footballer?

I would say both yes and no to this question because Hendon it made me realise that in order to play in that league and above I would have to change my previous style of play and come to collect the ball at feet more rather than just running behind defenders. While in comparison to Albion Sports where I had to revert back to just expecting the ball being played over the top and just running on to it which I didn’t mind doing at times but just wasn’t me and this was the reason why I stopped playing semi pro football for a while.

You have previously been in the Aldershot Town FC academy, with the first team currently in the fifth tier of the football pyramid. Do you aspire to take one step further and play in the football league one day?

Yeah I have a few years before I came to uni and just being at the academy and being able to watch the first team play first hand did make me want to play for them or possibly a team in the same league but I am getting old and I do think at the moment I could possibly play in that league now or above.

You have a good goal-scoring record at all the clubs you have played for, consistently hitting double figures. What has been the key to your success in front of goal?

Haha yeah I have surprisingly and I would say my answer to that is that I sometimes watch videos of strikers I looked up to like Ruud Van Nistlerooy and Thierry Henry and how they would create space in order to get into good positions to score and how many touches they would take in the box and I would try to implement that into my game. I also would remember something my old football coaches in college would say to me when in front of goal and that was to have a maximum of 2 touches in the box and before my first touch was to look and see how the keeper is positioned and go for a corner.

Last season you played for Leeds Trinity FC’s first team. How did your first campaign with the club fare in general?

My first campaign playing for the first team in my first year was a great one in comparison to the two seasons after as I knew it would be hard to emulate getting promotion and winning the league in my first season and trying to do the same but even though we have been relegated two seasons in a row after that, there have been positives to take from them both in terms of the fresh talent we have for the upcoming season in terms of players like Joe Colley, Nat Wilson & AJ who I’m sure will have a strong part in us going for promotion next season.

You are well known for being a quick striker. Do you think this is important as a forward to be able to beat the last defender?

Haha yeah I would say it is important to beat the last defender as I believe the role as the striker is to score goals and the only way you can do that is to beat the last defender in order to put yourself in a good position to score.

And what are you hoping to achieve with Leeds Trinity FC next season?

Next season as captain I would say my first plan for next season would be to ensure we as a team are fighting to win the league and it would also be nice to try do well in the cup. Whilst as a striker it would be nice to try beat my highest goal scoring recorded at uni as a personal target.
