Update on Jenny Hesketh
Jenny is now in her second term at the University of Bath, studying for a BSc in Sports Management and Coaching. Although learning is mostly online at present, she is enjoying being part of the Bath Student Community and is making the most of the University’s elite sports facilities.
She is being supported by TASS, the talented athlete support scheme, which is a Sports Aid England partnership scheme that she was granted by the women’s player pathway national governing body. This allows her to get the best from both her sporting and academic education. She is able to use the HPG (high performance gym) at the Bath Sports Training Village and gets full physio, strength and conditioning, and lifestyle support through the TASS scheme.
As well as training with Bath University women and men’s teams, when COVID restrictions allow, Jenny has also been training with Bath Ladies at Bath RFC who are in the Championship 1 South.
Since moving to Bath alongside two other students which Jenny previously knew from the England U18 Talent Development Group, she has been selected for the England U20 wider training squad of 46 players for the coming months of the 2021 season. Two weekend camps took place in the Autumn term. Both online and in person camps will take place for this training squad at Penny Hill Park in Surrey. Following the first few camps, involving the 46 players in the training squad, a smaller England U20 Match Day squad will be selected to play internal and international fixtures in the coming months (Covid permitting ).
Just before Christmas Jenny was presented the Staffordshire Moorlands ‘This Girl Can’ Sports Award for 2020, following the Leek District Sports Council Junior Sports Achievement Award she won earlier in the year.
Jenny remains very proud for all the support she continues to receive from Leek RUFC since she first started playing over 10 years ago.
