Good all round performance by our super girls

Leek travelled to Trentham and played a good old fashioned game of rugby in heavy conditions. With some of our girls at Midlands trials a ever growing injury list topped off will unavailability, Leek's squad depth was tested for the first time this season. Trentham started off playing with the slope and continual pressure saw them open the scoring. Leek then got into gear with Dunny and Izzy releasing the backs to make ground. Our forwards started to gain the upper hand strongly led by Captain Danielle and the man of the match Lottie. With no hookers available Keira kindly stood in and had a stormer in the loose. Leek equalised with strong phased play allowing Izzy to put Grace away for a fine try. Just before half time two of our Divisional trialists turned up and were available to play. Morgan made an immediate impact with 2 try saving tackles. In the 2nd half, and playing with the slope, Leek took command of the game. Holly came on with 20 minutes left and received the ball on the half way line with the Trentham team in front of her. She then proceeded to side step her way through the team to score under the posts which she then converted. Trentham's defence was resolute and their full back pulled off the tackle on the match after Izzy made a 40 yard break. Leek smashed their way to the line but brilliant defence stopped Sammy scoring. With the last play of the match Leek had a 5 metre scrum and Danielle picked up from No8 and put Dunny away to sprint to the corner to score a popular try.
Trentham are a lovely club and we were made very welcome. Thanks to the referee and all involved.
