Neil Baker was in buoyant mood after watching his side get off to a flying start with a 4-0 victory over Skelmersdale United.

The Blues boss told Moorlands Radio that he was not surprised by Town's fast start to the game:

"I sensed in the warm-up they were really going at it and that they would make a good start, although I didn't expect three goals - but we did start well and we converted our chances.

It was always going to be hard for them especially after the player got sent off but they were very competitive so it was important we managed the game properly and more often than not we did."

On Man of the Match Dan Trickett-Smith's sublime free-kick, Baker commented:

"It's not the first time he's done it, we trust him on set-plays and he more often than not makes the goalkeeper save at least. But that's just part of his game, he gives us far more than just being good on set-plays."

Summing up his thoughts on the opening game, he added:

"We won the match convincingly and I've got to be happy with that. Now I'm hoping we can get over 300 people down to Harrison Park when we play Droylsden on Tuesday night."
