Blues boss Neil Baker was delighted with his sides performance in their 4-0 victory over Prescot Cables at Harrison Park.

After the game he commented, "It was a comprehensive victory, we played well as a team and scored good, well-taken goals. The goalkeeper was well-protected and all the back four played well."

"With Dan and Gricey missing we have a settled team and I'm a great believer that playing and winning with a settled side breeds confidence. However it will be a nice problem to have win they are fit to return to the team!"

Talking about Jordan Johnson's second goal direct from a free-kick in as many games Baker added, "He doesn't always get the opportunities when Dan Trickett-Smith plays as he tends to take the free-kicks but he has grabbed those opportunities in the last couple of games."

Baker then admitted that he doesn't take much notice of the league table at this stage of the season, "I don't look at it to be honest, all I know is that we are improving and if we can keep doing that and playing like this, we will be round about. I think we are in a decent position and I think we can get better."

The match attracted an excellent attendance of 327 and Baker said, "We are building on the gates we've had a couple of 300's now and it's creeping up and if we produce more performances like that they will continue to improve.

In squad news left-back Andy McWilliams has been released following the arrival of Lewis Short and the return to the squad of Joe Kearns.

Dan Trickett-Smith, Tim Grice and Niall Maguire all missed the Prescot match as they recover from injuries and it looks as though it may not be until the match against Kidsgrove Athletic that they are ready to return.

The Kidsgrove game at Harrison Park has been brought forward to Friday 19th October, kick-off 7.45pm as both sides agreed to a switch in order to attract a bigger crowd with Stoke City at home on the Saturday.

However that date is subject to Kidsgrove not reaching the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round. They face a replay against Workington on Wednesday after a goalless draw in Cumbria on Saturday.

Blues next match is on Saturday on Non-League Day against Loughborough Dynamo in the Buildbase FA Trophy Preliminary Round.
