MINOR TURNS DOWN GROVE APPROACH

MINOR TURNS DOWN GROVE APPROACH

Steve Reynolds27 Mar 2011 - 18:22

Flying winger Richard Minor has confirmed that he has no intention of joining Kidsgrove Athletic after they issued seven days notice of approach.

Minor (pictured, at Loughborough) had been targeted by Grove to boost their promotion challenge but the player has indicated that he is happy to continue playing for Blues to the end of the season and beyond.

Minor, who moved to Harrison Park from Newcastle Town towards the end of February, now has nine appearances in a Leek shirt under his belt and has found the net twice.

The former Blues’ youth team star was advised of the Kidsgrove interest after the game at Loughborough on Saturday when he assured manager Neil Cox and Chairman Andy Wain that he is happy playing for the club and would not be moving again.

Kidsgrove have already made three approaches this season for Leek players with former Port Vale winger Wayne Corden turning down a move to the Seddon Stadium earlier in the campaign.

However, Kidsgrove succeeded in capturing goalkeeper Steve Hodgson and, more recently in a good will gesture, Leek released former manager Wayne Johnson from his league registration so that he could continue his playing career with them.
