Leek Town were asked to attend the Sentinel/City of Stoke-on-Trent Council Sports Awards at Kings Halls recently, and were delighted they did.
The Club were the recipients of the Chris Harper Memorial Award for 2018 - acknowledging their continued contribution to local sport and the community over recent seasons.
Candidates for the awards must either live, work or go to school or be affialated with a Club based within Stoke-on-Trent City Council's borders. But the the Chris Harper Award is open to any person or Club based in North Staffordshire or South Cheshire and chosen by the Sentinel/Stoke-on-Trent Live editor.
Neil Baker commented "This is totally unexpected and I am really pleased we have received this, Chris was a great friend of the Club when I first started as Manager at Leek."
Amongst the evenings winners were long serving coaches Graham Warner (cricket) and Gemma Brayford (swimming), their awards capped a gala night at the Kings Hall, where the great and good of North Staffordshire sport came to celebrate achievements from the last 12months.
In addition to this Mark Bright, Eddie Hall & Roy Price were inducted into the City of Stoke-on-Trent Hall of Fame.
Jon Eeles, Chairman of Leek Town said "The Awards are always a very good night out with a lot of mutual respect from all the people who attend, and give their time up to run Sports Clubs. We are very humbled to receive the Award, and it was completely unexpected, and Id like to thank everyone who is involved in the running of our great Club."
