DO THEY MEAN US? HEDNESFORD TOWN
Tuesday night sees a mouthwatering Staffordshire derby taking place at Keys Park as we head to Hednesford Town for our Staffs Senior Cup second round tie (7.45pm).

We look forward to as many of The True Blue Army as possible getting behind the lads on the night.

The True Blue Army will assemble at?
Keys Park is around 36 miles from Leek (slightly more if taking the M6). It’s located approximately six miles from junction 12 of the M6 (if visiting from the North). There are a couple of ways to get there from Leek: the M6 (depending on rush hour traffic) or the A520/A51 route.
Adress: Keys Park Stadium, Keys Park Rd, Hednesford, Cannock WS12 2DZ

We will be wearing all #ORANJE

How much to get in?
In the last round of the cup, admission prices were:

  • £5 adults
  • £4 concessions
  • £1 under 16’s
  • £1 car parking

Their website?
https://www.hednesfordtownfc.com/

Their nickname(s)?
The Pitmen

How are they doing?
Unfortunately, our visitors haven’t had the first half of the season that they would have wanted in the league, and are currently second bottom with 23 points from 26 games. In the last round of this cup, they defeated Uttoxeter Town 5-1 and last Saturday they also lost 5-1 to City of Liverpool FC.

Their main man?
Wideman Jai Verma was really lively against us in the league but is cup tied as is Daniel Gyasi, as its a Senior Cup tie we would expect both teams to be rotating players and using their full squad.

Their gaffer?
Harry Harris joined the club as First Team Manager with Steve Hinks also arriving as his assistant in October 2023. Harry has been involved in management from a young age at and has built his reputation amongst the lower local leagues before getting the chance to take over at Walsall Wood just under three years ago where he led the club to promotion from Step 5 last season.

6 Of The Best – six things you probably didn’t know about Hednesford (Town)…..

  1. The club was formed in 1880 with the amalgamation of two teams, the Red and Whites (who were also known as West Hill) and Hill Top
  2. The club originally played at a ground behind the Anglesey Hotel, which became known as 'the Tins' due to the metal sheeting that was erected around the ground
  3. Hednesford was an important coal mining community for over a century, hence their nickname
  4. Their stadium, Keys Park, was built at a cost of £1.3m and has a capacity of 6,039
  5. Hednesford Town won the FA Trophy in 2004, beating Canvey Island at Villa Park in the final
  6. In the 1991-92 season, The Pitmen became the first English football team to play at The Welsh National Stadium, losing 1-0 to Cardiff City.

Hednesford Town are in the process of changing ownership and this is in the process of being ratified by the FA, the full story can be found HERE
