This bank holiday Monday see’s the Blues face another of the relegated National League North teams in Warrington Town. Warrington finished just below Rushall Olympic last season, however they have not had quite the same start to the new campaign as the Pics. They have played four fixtures before this meeting and have picked up 4 points from a possible 12.
The Blues will go into the bank holiday following a four day turnaround from their previous outing, away at Prescot Cables. The match ended 1-1 away from home, a game in which a 10 men Leek Town took the lead through Liam Edwards. The Blues looked ready to take all 3 points back home with them, however a 92nd minute penalty meant that Prescot were given a lifeline and converted to save a point.
The Blues and todays opponents, the Yellows, are level in the league standings with 4 points each. However, with Warrington having a game in hand, this is one that Leek will not want to lose.

How are they doing?
Warrington have had a slow start in the Northern Premier League. With just 4 points from their opening 4 games they sit on the same points as the Blues. They do have a game in hand on the Blues and both teams can use this game to create some separation between themselves and those below them.
Their Main Man?
The Yellows will be hoping that their summer acquisition of Dontai Gabbidon, who is on a 3 month loan from Macclesfield, can hit he ground running whilst at the club to offer them a source of goals and assists. The Silkmen bought Gabbidon in for an undisclosed fee for the 24/25 season, after he had impressed them whilst playing for FC United of Manchester. Gabbidon is described as a pacey forward who adds a threat to the forward line.
Their Gaffer?
Paul Carden is the man in charge at the Yellows. Carden, with a wealth of football league playing experience has played for several football league clubs. With his best spells coming at Chester City and Cambridge United. He made his football league debut as a 17 year old at Blackpool. As a manager, Carden has managed at Cambridge, Southport, Tranmere and more locally Nantwich Town (23/24 season).
Warrington Town – Have we met before?
Considering the first match between Leek Town and Warrington Town was played in 1988 – The sides have actually only faced each other on three occasions, all of which have been cup ties.
Leek have won two of the three contests. One coming in 1988 in the FA Cup third qualifying round and the other in 2012 In the FA cup preliminary qualifying round.
There have only been 4 goals scored in the 3 games over the years and on the form of both teams at the start of this new campaign any may be happy to snatch a 1-0 win. Although, the Blues have been able to score 3 goals in their last 2 games.
